When Devindra Bishoo made his test debut against Pakistan in Guyana he looked like the real deal. Bishoo took 4/68 in the first innings of that match. But after playing 11 tests and taking 40 wickets Bishoo was a goner.
* Bishoo will not play test cricket again.
* Bishoo lacks the variety to make it in tests.
* Bishoo never learned the art of spin bowling.
RE: OTHER SPINNERS IN THE CARIBBEAN
When you compare Narine, Shillingford, Benn, Miller to spinners like Saeed Ajmal, Swan, Herath, Ashwin---there is no comparison really---the WI spinners look ordinary compared to the Ajmals and Swanns.
So what do you folks think---will any of the current spinners in the West Indies develop into a world class performer ?
WORLD CLASS SPINNERS:
* Swann has taken 212 wkts in 50 tests---4.24 wkts per test
* Ajmal has taken 133 wkts in 26 tests---5.11 wkts per test
* Herath has taken 180 wkts in 43 tests---4.18 wkts per test
=====================
RE: THE WI SPINNERS
* Bishoo took 40 wkts in 11 tests---3.63 wkts oer test
* Benn has taken 51 wkts in 17 tests---3.00 wkts per test
* Shillingford has taken 29 wkts in 8 tests---3.62 wkts per test
* Narine has taken 15 wkts in 5 tests---3.00 wkts per tests.
OBSERVATION:
World class spinners average 4 and 5 wkts per test; ordinary WI spinners average less than 4.
Looking at the numbers---is there any hope any of the WI spinners will develop into a world class performer ?

that's true but Butts and company does not give them the encouragement to play
look they just tell Narine he is not good for a test against Zimbabwe
they go with Shill and Permaul , so loo for Permaul to be dumped later on this year

Bishoo is indeed a one trick pony and now that the batsmen has figured him out , he is history / HE is indeed talented but he lacks guile and variation.

Stick a fork in Bishoo! But what do you think of the others---Shillingford, Permaul, Narine, Benn, Miller, etc---can they ever be as productive with the ball---take 4/5 wkts per test---like the Ajmals and Swanns ?

You are comparing windies spinners to the three best in the world . If you compare them with all the other current spinners then the windies spinners numbers do stack up

ramesh have no statistical comparison to provide.
ramesh is too LAZY to compile the NUMBERS.
NUMBERS DONT LIE.
ramesh prefers to whinge , complain and nag with issues pulled out of his nether regions...

What's with all the leggies falling apart? Bishoo and now Tahir. I really thought Bishoo might really make it big, but he turned out to be a massive disappointment. Being outbowled by Deonaraine on a fifth day pitch vs Oz is really telling.
I hope he bounces back though, but not really getting my hopes high tbh. How's his first class career going?

Leggies are a unique bunch
But the more a young leg-spinner is shunned, the more he doubts himself, and given that by its very nature the leggie's action
is the most fragile, the most likely to break down, it seems to be so thoroughly defeatist to drain that player's confidence
by turning to an off-spinner or a seamer for the sake of economy.

Who is the really tall left arm spinner? I forget his name but I was quite impress with him. His bowling is accurate and he gets extra bounce because of his height. Bounce is just as important as spin in my opinion.
