did he think this was a T20 farce?
"No idea," McCullum said after play on the first day. "I was trying to hit every ball for four or six"?
What a slog

There was an interesting interview with McCullum shown during the tea break in which Ian Smith asked him whether he ever thinks about dialing it back once he has got himself in. McCullum, without pause, said, "No, never." He said he only knows how to play one way. He admitted it isn't for everyone, and that there are times when he gets in a zone and is back in the pavilion 5 minutes later due to the way he plays. He offered a very honest assessment and admitted that is why he isn't as consistent as other batsman, but when it comes off, he can completely turn a match - as he did in this Test.

While doing some research after McCullum's innings, I uncovered some very surprising numbers. McCullum has a career overseas average of just 28.90. If you remove his numbers in Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, his average drops further to 26.94 with just the 1 century (
his fantastic 225 in India
).
Since McCullum made his debut in 2004, Australia, England and South Africa have been the three most winningest teams in Test cricket. McCullum's overseas average in all three countries is surprisingly low. He averages 24.31 in Australia, 29.05 in England and just 17.30 in South Africa.
