but who paid for this doc and wat is its purpose..a grand nostalgic tour of forgotten apsects of westindian history....or something else more current..and hidden?
and why is the 'chinese-run' in jamaica-westindies forgotten..so much so that Dave6 now must ressurect it and re-educate us all?
perhaps becuase the chinese demselves did not care to be seen, known and accepted as westindian, never saw themselves as part of the region and lived a comunity life consistent with such disdain for the westindies

in the westindies the chinese collectivised to dominate commerce, insurance, the entertainment industry, and extracted their profits and repatriated them to places in the world they preferred to live, buying up large houses in england, france and other parts of europe like copenhagen and Oslo .
Chinese also invested in canada and the usa with westindian money.
educated chinese westindians, who went to big schools in the USA, Canada, England on westindian profits, never, or hardly ever, returned to the westindies to build up the region
perhaps the quality of chinese life in Jamaica..or chinese 'red-lining' and non re-investment can explain the path of that comunity in jamaica over the period celebrated in this doc..more than any other aspect of its life.
and the same goes for the rest of the region, ESPECIALLY Trinidad, where that Chinese comunity were/are? notorious for its exploitative ways, were involved in many huge financial scandals that set the tone for their social movement, especially under the leadership..or non-leadership... of the father of that nation..Eric Williams
and perhaps the answer to my question as to the why of this doc, can be found in the benefits such new-found regional nationalsm can bring to current generations of chinese jamaicans...and obviously as well, to the non-blac minorities in combination against Afros throughout the region
there are coincidences that must not be ignored but mined for whatever meaning they many contain relative to current global flows.
suddenly we have a celebratory doc about the role of chinse in jamaica that ignores completely the fundamental exploitative role of chinese in jamaican society since 1839 and the end of blac apprenrticeship to the sugar industry..a period of 172 years.
suddenly we have a growing flavour of jamaican chinese nationalism, couched in the same nationalism accorded to the other jamaican minorities, while the mass of jamaican, blac people, are at an even worse social ebb currently, than at any previous time over those 172 years noted above
there is also a resurgent china in the world suddenly expanding thoughout, and surely knitting chinese the world over into a solid supportive block whether they can still speak chinese or not. such inability seems of little importance to the basic chinese nature of all chinese. those who cant for whatever reason, can always learn to speak chinese anyway.
so again wat is the importance of this doc that Dave6 assiduously mines this cricket board to promote?

let us be absolutely honest and admit westindian racism in the form of hatred of blac people, its basic strand... hate of the descendants of africa, the majority westindian demographic...by all other minority groups combined.
I lived that experienc so I know it well. I admit african racism but state categorically it was/is nothing but a reacitive racism, stimulated by the racism against us, we experienced every day from the status, from all more favoured groups than we. we existed at the bottom of the ladder, the base upon which all above us stood/stands.
despite it all, for blac people there was/is live and let live. that was the case with no other westndian population group relative to blac people.
no other group as a matter of social movement cared whether Afros lived or died. and in most cases deh would have helped eliminate us if they could.
Russell Peters did not say he found Blac people to be friendly for nothing. we, blac people, are more friendly to outsiders than any other ethinic group of the human species, if far more stupid as a collective, and ignorant and negligent of what we must do to try ensure our social safety in perpetuity.
so wat is Dav6 really up to here again. who paid for his documentary and what is its puropose?
