Today, Barbados stands proud as Kemar Roach enters rare and sacred company with his 300th Test wicket.
Only five West Indians have ever reached this mark, and Kemar now becomes the second Barbadian to do so, following in the footsteps of the great Malcolm Marshall. That alone tells you the height of the mountain he has climbed.
What moves me most is not only the number, but the journey. A young man from Barbados who took his chances, worked through pain, carried responsibility, adapted, endured, and still remained humble enough to thank those who helped him along the way.
Kemar, you have touched the hearts of so many of us. You have reminded every young cricketer that greatness is not always loud. Sometimes it is discipline, patience, courage and the quiet refusal to give up.
On behalf of the Government and people of Barbados, congratulations. You have made your country proud, and you continue to inspire generations yet to take the field.

At 38 years old, after making his Test debut in 2009, Kemar Roach 🇹🇹 has reached the incredible milestone of 300 Test wickets.
Only 5 West Indians have ever achieved this milestone.
But this story is about far more than statistics. 🥺
Roach played almost his entire career during one of the hardest times in West Indies cricket. He could have walked away. Instead, he stayed.
He sufferied a serious ankle injury, survived a car accident in 2014 that nearly took his life, and had to change his bowling style to continue his career. He gave up some of his pace and focused on accuracy and swing.
While T20 leagues offered him more money, Roach chose to protect his body for county and Test cricket. Year after year, giving everything for the maroon cap, often without the recognition he truly deserved.
Many fans remember the young fast bowler who troubled Ricky Ponting. But his greatest achievement is the way he fought through every setback and never stopped believing.
300 Test wickets. 17 years of dedication. One unforgettable legacy.
Some players become famous. Others become respected. Kemar Roach belongs in the second category. ❤️
