Like R Ashwin from Tamil Nadu before him, Washington Sundar went from being a batsman as a youngster to making his name as an offspinner. After representing India at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, he replaced Ashwin at Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2017 IPL, and bowled at an impressive economy rate to help his side to the final.

He bowled 14 of his 22 overs inside the Powerplay in the league stage.

Among spinners, only Sunil Narine

- with vast experience and variations at his disposal - had done it more often  ;)

Christian swatted across the line but it wasn't off the middle.
The throw was already in as Christian finished the second run.
They stood no chance as they took off for the third
Mumbai have won the IPL!

Johnson to Washington Sundar, 1 bye, yorker outside off stump. Goes straight through, so it misses the stumps. He was looking to slice this through third man but was beaten. Christian was off the blocks quickly and completed the run as Parthiv's underarm flick missed

Chanderpaul suffered the injury while playing a shot in the nets on Tuesday.

SerenaThis batting performance by the West Indies in the second innings blew me away. I kept closing my eyes and then rubbing and opening them again and sat transfixed as I watch that unbelievable partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope. What a magnificent performance by these two! It just goes to show that patience, determination and effort can go a long way to improve the performances of the West Indies team.
