South Zone coach Stephen Ramkissoon congratulates his players from left Rayall Narine, Kyle Roopchand, Darren Samlal and Liam Mamchan after their massive 103-run win over South West in the Shell Interzone U-15 series.
Seamers Liam Mamchan and Rayall Narine combined for an excellent bowling performance to rout South West and take South into the semi-finals of the TTCB Under-15 Shell Interzone tournament on Wednesday.

South accumulated 226 all out after winning the toss and taking first strike at James Park in Egypt Village, Point Fortin.

Openers Rodney Beharry of Presentation College and Kyle Roopchand of Naparima College had a 50 plus opening stand for the third successive time in the series.

Following on from their 116-run and 83-run efforts in the first two games, they again got South off to a great start by adding 74 runs for the first wicket.

Beharry fell for 15, while Roopchand went on to score 46 before being dismissed.

When South lost skipper Tariq Mohammed via an unfortunate leg before decision, a mini collapse ensued.

However, the talented Darren Samlal and all rounder Narine brought South back into the game by getting 43 and 36 respectively.

Presentation College’s Narine then made two early breakthroughs but South West fought back well and at one point they were 68 for two in pursuit 184 in the rain affected game.

Mamchan, a 12-year old Naparima College student bowling his right arm seamers then set the cat amongst the pigeons, finishing his eight-over spell with figures of 3/12.

Narine came back later on to grab another wicket to finish with 3/6.

South will now meet North in the semis next Wednesday at the NCC in Balmain. While South topped the group B, North lost to East on Wednesday to finish second.

East, the defending champions batted first and scored 204 all out with Sion Hackett getting 56 and Andrew Ramsarran 23.

Mathew Gittens was the best of the North bowlers with 3/39.

Jabari Phillip then ensured that no upsets were on the cards as he grabbed 4/15 to bowl out North for 89.

North will now meet Central in the other semis on Thursday at the NCC.

THE Cricket Development Unit of First Citizens Clarke Road United will commence its cricket coaching and youth development programme on Friday at their Wilson Road Recreation Ground in Penal.

The initiative will benefit boys and girls in five age groups: 7-9, 9-11, 11-12, 13-15 and 15-17.

The sessions will be conducted from 4pm to 6pm and will be supervised by the experienced and watchful guidance of club coach Dasrath Maharaj. Assisting him are former national cricketers Mukesh Persad and Mahadeo Bodoe, along with Usha Persad.
Clarke Road United has a long and well-documented history of success in youth development, producing numerous players who have gone on to represent Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the West Indies teams.

The 16-session programme will be conducted by the qualified coaches in a safe environment where the budding cricketers will also be involved in competitive matches to test their skills and gauge their progress.
The club will also be soon undertaking an Under-16 tour of Guyana over the Carnival period. It encourages parents to have their children participate in this healthy and beneficial initiative.

Perhaps the most perplexing aspect of AT&T Stadium, otherwise known as “Jerry World,” is the glare from the sun that bursts through the windows and shines directly onto the field. Time and time again the glare has impacted players’ visibility during games, yet Jerry Jones refuses to make any changes to account for the sun.

Rather than install curtains, Jones has previously said he feels it’s a home-field advantage to have that type of stadium factor impacting games. Well, the glare ended up benefitting the Chiefs early into Thursday’s Thanksgiving game, as a pass from Dak Prescott to George Pickens fell incomplete, at least in part due to the impact of the sun’s glare.

SerenaThis batting performance by the West Indies in the second innings blew me away. I kept closing my eyes and then rubbing and opening them again and sat transfixed as I watch that unbelievable partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope. What a magnificent performance by these two! It just goes to show that patience, determination and effort can go a long way to improve the performances of the West Indies team. Let us hope that this effort by West Indies batsmen would not be a one-off performance, but will be the beginning of a renewed effort to improve the performances of the team, going forward.(13.10.2025, 09:28)(09:28)0

WarrenJameis Winston is asked about being named QB3 on the Giants' roster behind Russell Wilson and Jaxson Dart:

"As a competitor, you want to be the starter. But I prepare to be the starter, I know I'm a starter in this league.

But you have to be able to be grateful for your role...my role right now is to assist Russ and Jaxson to be the best that they can be while preparing to be the best that I can be.

No matter if I'm 3, 33, this is my first year being number 19, so it's always a first for everything.

I focus on what I would love. And what I would love is for this team to have success."
