Chris Gayle Could Show Up For Nagico Super 50 Next Year
According to a press report, former West Indies captain Chris Gayle could show up for the Nagico Super 50 tournament which is scheduled to begin January 15.
Despite being contracted to play in the Pakistan Super League in early February, it is reported that Gayle has indicated his interest in playing for the Jamaican franchise in the regional 50 over tournament.
The report also noted that Gayle has not represented Jamaica in a regional non-franchise match since his last outing in the Caribbean T20 tournament in 2013 at which time he scored 122 not out.
Gayle has also recently switched allegiance from Jamaica Tallawahs and is now set to join St Kitts & Nevis Patriots for the 2017 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
He represented Jamaica Tallawahs in the previous four editions of the tournament while leading them to the title win this year, and in the inaugural edition in 2013.
“Moving to St. Kitts is a move which hugely excites me at this time. As with all franchise leagues, there is always the opportunity to move from one team to another and I am looking forwards to joining the Patriots for the upcoming season,†Gayle reportedly said.
The move has been applauded by Uday Nayak, co-owner and team principal of the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
“Chris’s record is phenomenal, not just in the West Indies, but across the cricketing world. He has a reputation that is revered everywhere and is the kind of player who will drive our team forward. This is one of the biggest transfers in Hero CPL history and I know from speaking with Chris that he is motivated to do well for his new franchise. Success has followed Chris throughout his career and we as owners will give him and the team our full support to achieve similar success for the Patriots in 2017,†Nayak stated.

This is an exciting time to witness this move and others as well! I cannot wait to see what is yet to come. The new year should have a few more surprises.
