Pakistan ready to whitewash Caribbean again

Even as the series is pocketed, Pakistan will be going all out for a win as they take on West Indies in the third and final ODI at the Shaikh Zayed Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

And their intent is not without a reason - valuable points are for the taking that will help them gain an automatic qualification for the 2019 World Cup.

Pakistan coach John 'Mickey' Arthur is man on a mission. "Of course top position is our goal. We want to keep getting better and better so that when we get to the 2019 World Cup."

He has earmarked the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy on the hit-list.

"We have to be in the top eight next year too. So we will give our best to win the last match," he said referring to the rankings' aspect.

And there is a method to achieve that. "We want to be ruthless and not complacent," the South African said.

He elaborated as to how batsmen were performing well in the death overs. "I am seeing us perform better in the last 10 overs. I am also looking at executing our skills better with the ball."

And the opponent's stature doesn't deter Pakistan game plan as they have shown against the 'Champions'. "We are not worried about who we are playing. We concentrate on getting little things right."

Arthur said that despite a drubbing in the earlier matches the Caribbean remain threatening. "West Indies are a very good side."

Pakistan will be missing the services of Mohammad Amir as he has left to tend to his ailing mother.

The coach wished a speedy recovery for his mother. "Asif is getting better and better." The coach is eager to have him back soon.

This is a different Pakistan all together - young, vibrant and on the move. And Arthur revealed that there were many bowlers who were not in the squad but can make it.

"That is very encouraging. We can think of host of bowlers who are not here, so we are starting to develop a good base of players who can play for Pakistan. The best thing about this is that they know what the standards are, they know what the requirements are and they know there are no free passes to get into the team."
