The journey from 334 to 444 in 41 years !

The first day of the first World Cup - Dennis Amiss made 137 and England's innings

was rounded off by Chris Old 30-ball 51.

The final total of 334 was a big leap on the previous best of 266.

Pakistan 338 for 5 (60 overs) v Sri Lanka, Swansea, 1983

Two World Cups later,  the record was broken as Pakistan enjoyed the Welsh air

against a Sri Lanka side still young in their full international days. After Mohsin Khan

and Zaheer Abbas - with 82 apiece - had laid the platform, the acceleration came

from Javed Miandad (72 off 52) and Imran Khan (56 off 33)

with what Wisden termed a "violent assault"...............

breaching the 300-run and then the 400-run mark !

1980-1984 - 4.86 rpo with 6 scores of 320+
1985-1989 - 4.50 rpo with 2 scores of 320+
1990-1994 - 4.47 rpo with 4 scores of 320+
1995-1999 - 4.73 rpo with 19 scores of 320+
2000-2004 - 4.83 rpo with 38 scores of 320+
2005-2009 - 5.06 rpo with 95 scores of 320+
2010-2014 - 5.12 rpo with 72 scores of 320+
2015 - 5.56 rpo with 43 scores of 320+

as at Today' date its probably 7.00 rpo  :-[
