Pakistan have been fined for a slow over rate during their final-Test win against England at The Oval.

Match referee Richie Richardson ruled that Misbah-ul-Haq's team were one over short of their target figure, despite time allowances being considered.

Misbah was fined 20% of his match fee and if a further over rate offence occurs within 12 months under his captaincy he will face a suspension.

His team-mates were each fined 10% of their match fees.

Pakistan won the match by 10 wickets to draw the series

Fines for a slow over rate have been in place for a while now, and even though the fines implemented in this game seem a little harsh on this occasion. I guess everyone playing knows the rules so there's no excuse these days for a low over rate, and just because players might not agree with them, the rules are there for a reason and so should be adhered to.

Across most sports I think there tends to be certain rules and regulations that fans and players don't like, and while they are there for a reason, on a lot of occasions they are actually detrimental to the game.

I cannot see how a game WON withover 3 sessions LEFT

could see the winning team incur a FINE for bowling a slow over rate  ??????


IF it sounds stupid, then the by law is an ass !

The problem is, England escaped punishment for their slow-over rate at Edgbaston. You can't have one rule for the Big 3, and one rule for the others.
