Onus is on Bravo and Samuels to get runs, says Holder

Over the last 3 years, Marlon has the lowest Test average (25.16) of all batsman (1-6) with a minimum of 30 innings.

Still, he may be our best player of Spin.

Daren Bravo has all the qualities of a great batsman. I think he is mentally weak.  There was a rumor that he did not want to play under St. Lucian Darren Sammy and withdrew from the team.  That is a sign of a disturbed young man, if that rumor is true. 

Marlon's average against spin is a paltry 23.88 - lower than his career average. Spinners have accounted for 41% of all his dismissals.  I just don't see how there can be any justification for his continued selection.

Lil Bravo's average against spin is 40.83.

against both Mishra and Ashwin......

I would have rather seen Marlon Samuels pushed to retirement instead of Shiv Chanderpaul.  Shiv demonstrated the ability to anchor one end while inspiring young batsmen at the other end to strive.  Look at the examples of Blackwood and Daren Bravo!  Both scored many runs with Chanderpal at the wicket. 

Watching him this last test, Marlon seems like he is a loner in the team. He does not seem to interact much with other players.   

In one innings, though. The definition of small sample size. Numbers over a 3 year period strip out the noise and random variations.

Ashwin has dismissed Marlon 5 times in 6 Test matches. Murali (7 times) is the only bowler to have dismissed Marlon more often in Test cricket.

His body language in the Australia series was not good either. Had his hands in his pockets most of the time, looked very disinterested, and was criticised for offering little to no support to Jason Holder.
