T&T U-19 girls snare regional title
...as Ragoobar secures player’s honours

All rounder Kamara Ragoobar produced with both bat and ball to spearhead T&T to a 27-run victory over the Windward Islands at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain Couva yesterday and claim the Regional Under-19 Cricket title.
Only two days after being defeated by the T&T at Gilbert Park in Couva, the visitors won the toss and invited the host to bat first and they thought they had gotten the breakthrough by claiming the early wickets of Reniece Boyce and Shania Abdool for two and three runs respectively, as they restricted the home team for 104 for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Boyce was caught by Akita Alexander off the bowling of Aliyah Alfred and Abdool went through the same route, caught by Kimone Holder off the bowling of Qiana Joseph.
T&T also lost Reanna Farrow, who was caught by Alexander from the bowling of Taylor Dickson for five, before the entry of Leandra Ramdeen and Ragoobar stabilised the innings. Ramdeen was patient for her 28 which came off 48 balls, before being bowled by Holly Charles. Ragoobar though, was more aggressive, hitting a boundary in her score of 36 which lasted 56 minutes and came off 38 balls.
At the end of the 20 overs Ragoobar was unbeaten on 36 with Mikaela Jodhan, who contributed six to the tally. In response the Windwards struggled against the TT bowling attack, as they were restricted to 74 for the loss of eight wickets. Ragoobar, the Moosai all rounder who was made her debut for the TT senior team, returned to claim the important wicket of Charles for nine to finish with figures of one for 10 runs.
However Reanna Farrow was the chief destroyer for T&T, taking three wickets for 17 runs in her spell of four overs.
She removed opening batsman Joseph, leg before wicket for 15 and later she accounted for Homer who was caught and bowl for six and Cassie Williams for just one. Ramdeen also wrecked the Windwards batting as she took two wickets for eight runs in her spell of four overs. Nerrisa Crafton topscored for Windwards with 21 but it was not enough to prevent them going down to an inform T&T team.
After the match Ragoobar was voted Man of the Match and Player of the Tournament. She also got the award for the Most Wickets taken for the tournament, as she took eight wickets for 39 runs in 14.3 overs, which also included four maidens.
Barbadian and West Indies batsman Haley Matthews got the Most Runs award with 83, which included a half century (55) against Guyana on Thursday.
