The People’s Station Radio 90.5FM is proud to announce its continued sponsorship of our TT cricket team – Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR).

Last year, Radio 90.5 furthered its commitment to supporting our sporting heroes through sponsorship of TT Red Steel which has now been renamed.

The Red Steel was one of the original six teams created for the Caribbean Premier League’s inaugural 2013 season. TKR is the brother team of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and is owned by Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla.

TKR won the CPL tournament in 2015 and will be defending their title this year.

Over the past eighteen years, The People’s Station Radio 90.5FM has been supporting the development of sport as an avenue to build family life and community spirit.

Locally, they are the sponsors of the Bamboo All Stars cricket team which has excelled in several of the local windball tournaments.

Out of this sponsorship, the children’s cricket coaching clinic was also developed to allow children between the ages of five and seventeen to learn the sport.

Radio 90.5FM and parent company Caribbean Lifestyle Communications are also supporters of the Daren Ganga Cricket Academy.

“Our decision to support sports is a reflection of our belief that this is a nation-building block and as a media and entertainment entity we see this as part of our social responsibility… it is a positive approach to reaching out to our communities as proof of our belief in the potential of our people,” stated Manging Director, Kiran Maharaj.

Radio 90.5FM is also the distributor for Bollywood film production giants Red Chillies Entertainment and Yash Raj Films and was responsible for releases such as Jab Tak Hain Jaan, Happy New Year and Dilwale. The station is also the business development partner for Zee TV and through this relationship Divali Nagar 2015 gained global exposure.

“Supporting our local team by being at the games shows our belief in them and it is encouraging and exciting to know that we can come together as one people to be part of this sport… it truly is one big celebration.” Maharaj said it is an honour to be able to support the team owned by Shah Rukh Khan, an actor and a person who has touched the lives of so many both on and off screen.

“It is rare that you come across an individual of this magnitude who tries to bring about positivity in everything he does and with everyone he meets. Knowing that he has the confidence in our team is itself a testimony.” The CPL games are carded to begin 29th June 2016.
