Rampaul fires Surrey to victory despite Jordan half-century |

LONDON, England, CMC – West Indies fast bowler Ravi Rampaul’s four-wicket haul cancelled out Chris Jordan’s half-century as Surrey beat Sussex by six wickets in the Royal London One-Day Cup here Tuesday.
Fully fit after a hamstring injury ruled him out of a few recent fixtures, the Trinidadian picked up four for 47 to help limit Sussex to 239 all out off 43.3 overs after they were sent in at Woodbridge Road in Guildford.
Opener Chris Nash perished to the third ball of the day without a run on the board and Sussex slipped to 50 for three in the 14th over before the Barbados-born Jordan rallied the innings with a top-score of 55 off 60 deliveries.
The all-rounder, who played first class cricket for Barbados up to four seasons ago, put on 69 for the sixth wicket with captain Luke Wright who made 42, and a further 41 for the seventh with South African David Wiese who struck 41.
Rampaul struck two telling blows late on when he claimed both Wright and Wiese to slow Sussex’s progress.
In reply, Rory Burns struck an unbeaten 70 from 59 balls and Ben Foakes, 61 not out from 60 deliveries, to guide the visitors to their target in the 34th over.
They were slumping at 99 for four in the 16th over before the pair came together in a stroke-filled, unbroken 136-run, fifth-wicket stand.
At Bristol, ex-West Indies speedster Tino Best went wicket-less as Hampshire went down by ten runs to Gloucestershire in a high-scoring encounter.
The right-armer’s nine overs cost 75 runs as openers Michael Klinger (166) and Chris Dent (142) put on 242 to propel the hosts to 352 for three, after they were sent in.
