Guillen leads TTCB team against Tobago XI

QUEEN’S PARK’s successful captain will lead the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TT CB) National League team against a Tobago XI in two 50-overs-a-side matches in the sister-isle on tomorrow and Saturday.
For tomorrow’s encounter, the two teams will clash at Shaw Park in Scarborough while they will move to the Cyd Gray Sports Complex at Roxborough for Saturday showdown. Both matches will start at 9.30 am.
Guillen has done a wonderful job leading Queen’s Park to the treble during the 2016 season (League, 50-overs and T20). The left-handed opening batsman has been rewarded for his outstanding role as leader of the famous St Clair-based club.
Promising all-rounder Jyd Goolie, who was a member of the triumphant West Indies Under-19 World Cup squad, will be part of the TT CB National League team which also includes TT Red Force players Marlon Richards, Brian Charles, Yannic Cariah, Kjorn Ottley, Philton Williams and Uthman Mohammed.
Adrian Ali, Kharry Pierre and Camil Pooran are also included in the squad which will travel today to Tobago and be ready for battle against their Tobago counterparts.
The Parkites’ coach David Furlonge will serve as coach of the TT CB National League team while Central Sports’ Richard Ramkissoon will serve as manager.
Suruj Ragoonath, TT CB’s chief executive officer, disclosed that this new development is geared to provide the Tobago players with opportunities for greater exposure against top players. He said, “these matches have been organised so exposure the talented players in Tobago against high quality opposition.
“This will also allow our national selectors to watch the Tobago players in a competitive match and to be able to assess their ability and potential for national selection.†Former West Indies Test player Raphick Jumadeen, current chairman of TT CB senior selection panel; and former WI Test and ODIs player Gus Logie, who is current coach of the Red Force outfit and also a senior selector; will also travel to Tobago to witness both matches.
