Chadwick Walton blasted an exhilarating double hundred

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Jamaican Chadwick Walton blasted an exhilarating double hundred here Saturday, to fire University of West Indies to a massive win over Carlton in the BCA Super Cup here.

Played at the 3Ws Oval at the Cave Hill Campus, the right-hander struck an astonishing 207 from 144 balls as UWI amassed a huge 417 for six off their 50 overs.

The hosts then bundled out Carlton for 171 to pull off a 246-run victory.

Walton, who has played two Tests and five One-Day Internationals for West Indies, made all the headlines with an enterprising knock.

The right-hander hammered 16 fours and 12 sixes, posting 124 for the first wicket with Justin Bramble who made 43 and a further 110 for the second wicket with Barbados batsman Kyle Corbin who stroked 58.

Corbin faced a mere 38 balls and counted three fours and four sixes while veteran left-hander Floyd Reifer chipped in with an unbeaten 48 from 25 balls with five fours and two sixes.

Carlton were then undermined by left-arm spinner Linton Buchanan who grabbed five for 23.

Trinidadian Nicholas Pooran hit a 12-ball 35 with five sixes.

At Beckles Road, West Indies batsman Shane Dowrich lashed 122 to propel YMPC to a 63-run victory over school side, Foundation.

The right-handed Dowrich struck 21 threes and three fours off 123 balls as YMPC reached 239 all out off 44.2 overs.

Barbados Under-19 all-rounder Dominic Drakes took two for 39 and returned to top score with 46, as Foundation crumbled for 176 all out.
