how can Shannon Gabe arrive at 22 and don't know what he is alleged not to know even at this in his late twenties?

that is the question and the problem that can be the result only of lack guidance during the formative stage in the development of a bowler when coaching can be essential, or crucial.

how can coaching help such a player in his twenties, who learned the fundamentals poorly, or did not learn them at all, when no coaching may have been available ::confused::

it is too late for coaching now at least for Gabe.  by the time Gabe was 22 he should have been a finished product as far as fundamentals are concerned requiring no more coaching at the top level.

if he/any player develops a problem from that point on, he can be directed to whoever is best suited to help him..spot coaching.  but it is up to the player by experience to develop from there on his own, in the mix of the international sport, in discussion and strategy with his team etc.

that s what professionalism is all about. we cannot deny players their responsibility to themselves.  that is RTT!

if there is to be a coach at the top end he must be under the captain, answerable to him.  he may participate in strategy and the development of plans.  any number of analysts can be hired in spot ways to watch the play, research and analyze opponents in order to develop all the necessary plans.

who says a head coach at enormous annual expense, has all those answers.  no candidate for head coach ever does.  therefore more money must be spent on essential analysts/professionals to research and deconstruct the data.

a head coach is not necessary.  he is a hindrance.  all the high profile coaches are more hindrance than help.  get rid of them all..demote them to where they can be really useful..at the high primary and high school levels

I think Estwick will do better than Ambrose.

that is what they should have explained to Ambrose as the reason for change in the bowling coach..exactly what Dillinger explained above..that his results were not satisfactory.

I never got the impression that Ambrose was a good results achieving coach. it seemed clear to me that he was not

Cricket is BATTING as well : which for W.I. sucks the big one  !

why target the BOWLING consultant ?

Maps, I understand dillinger points well BUT Curtly can only work with what the Selectors give him !

My question why ONLY the bowling ??

IF the BATTING coach/consultant is FIRED too : All's Fair !

IF not , then something is rotten in the state of Denmark

Lawsuit time.

I totally agree, Maps. A head coach these days is part cheerleader, part mentor/man-manager responsible for keeping morale up and creating the best environment. Those underneath them do the heavy lifting. We have definitely seen a shift in the role of the head coach in recent years with the likes of Bayliss (England), Hesson (New Zealand), Ford (Sri Lanka) and Domingo (South Africa) being employeed in this role despite not having played a Test match between them. They are employed more for their man-management skills than their technical knowledge. I also agree that they should be answerable to the captain and not the other way round.

If I were in charge, I would invest heavily in analysts, and keep a batting and bowling coach for the mechanical aspect.

Sir Curtly , the bowler who took 7 wicket for one run in an innings against Australia , a career haul of 495 wickets for the paltry 20.99 and who brought some respectability to the WI bowling as coach , is now not good enough . Wow. The replacement shows it's a joke ting

Being one of the all time great fast bowlers doesn't make one a great bowling coach.
