you chaps dont get it.

Simmons must define what he means by "technical improvements"

Oddawise it is exactly Trini Comess or just a basic cop out for an ouster !!

let me remind you folks that there was a T20 WC Won under Curtly

so to say he did a poor job during his stint is FALSE.

I dont think Curtly is done with him as yet : anticipate a Lawsuit.

In those 3 years he mainly coached the Test and ODI teams with very few T20 games and then those T20 players were not really playing for the West Indies and coached elsewhere in franchises etc.

The top bowlers were Badree, Gayle, Benn, Russell and Bravo!

In my view technical improvements are quite clear like length of run, approach to the wicket, crease utilisation, use of the seam, wrist position, point of delivery, follow through etc.

Now one might say I knew all of that when I was 6 but there are times when, those of us who have played at a decent level and quite a lot, can fall into bad practices etc.

Now there is a point whether Curtley knew he was delivering and that is due to the evaluation process.

I always felt that the on field team talk has to come from the Captain/ a member of the team and not any Coaches/ Consultants.

As much I was in opposition with Gibson, everytime he takes over as England bowling Coach, I see plans and improvements.

All I can say a great player doesn't translate into great coach

Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

what I say again is the the HC position is a waste of time and money..a way of reducing the players to a controllable mass by reducing their captain to just an ordinary player, from the main man he used to be in the game.

the HC is there for that reason and no other..the replacement of the captain, his own man, by a board man...answerable to the board only, controlled by the board.  that is the point of the HC. and they have given him a lot of money for that even if his shelf life is really short.

the HC and his coaches now occupy too great a role in the game.  the captain should be..must be restored.. and the coaches reduced to what they once were..adjuncts who can be used when necessary..not the dominant figure on the sidelines or dressing room

Is it fair to say that no fast bowler improved in the Test arena under Curtly and no fast bowlers were developed over this time either? I think it is. Jerome Taylor was the only seam bowler with a Test average under 35 and even that was higher than his career average. By comparison, Roach, Rampaul, Edwards and Best all had Test match averages below 35 under Ottis.

Purely from a numbers standpoint:

Under Curtly's reign, Windies bowlers had the highest bowling average in Test matches (40.33), third highest in ODIs (36.88) and fourth highest in T20s (25.79).

As a collective unit across all three formats of the game, West Indies bowlers averaged 36.63 - the highest of any Full Member team and almost a full 3 runs higher than Sri Lanka, who were second worst on this list. Even Zimbabwe had a lower collective average (33.76).

For comparison, under Gibson, West Indies bowlers averaged 30.21 across all formats - 5th best. They averaged 34.79 in Tests - 6th best, 30.63 in ODIs - 6th best, and 21.64 in T20s - 4th best.

I think it is fair to say that Ottis had more to work with, but also fair to say he got the most out of his bowlers.

Ottis had Shannon Gabriel  ?

whom at his age could not position and Grip the seam .

You can only work with whom is Capped.

Like the Guyana most Batting  debutant CAPS : get dropped after or during a Series

OR Guyana Spin bowlers ....same faith as their batsmen.

poster Mail goes at length to point this out !!

Fact of the matter is Batsmen get dropped quick , quick !

while looking at the Seamers : almost zero %

strange phenomenon : fire the batting coach or "consultant"... too !!

like i said, anticipate a Lawsuit from Curtly !

That is a fair and valid point, and makes an apples-to-apples comparison impossible. In saying that, one of the biggest problems I have seen with the seam bowlers under Curtly's reign is a distinct lack of discipline and game-plan - two areas in which a good bowling coach can make a difference.

The role of a bowling coach has changed rather dramatically over the last decade - especially with the reliance on statistical data and the implementation of performance and video analysis in forming a game-plan. This is an area that Ottis is very strong. Sky Sports did a great feature on him last summer during the Ashes that highlighted this.

Based on this article dating back to 2011, it would appear that Estwick is a big proponent of using video and statistical analysis.

From memory I think Stuart Williams is Batting Coach.

He gets to keep his Job ?  guess he uses video analysis  ;)

www.mid-day.com/articles/field-day-for-w...rt-williams/15660154

Williams also came out to bat as the last man with two balls remaining in the final over.

He remained unbeaten on zero. This is Williams' first list 'A' match after 10 years.
