The ICC match referee Andy Pycroft has reportedly told the Oman team management that the other teams playing the first round of the World T20 in Dharamsala had agreed not to mankad batsmen. Oman, however, stuck to their stance of wanting to mankad, only budging to agree to give the batsman a warning.

Mankading - the run-out of a non-striker backing up before the ball is delivered - has become more common in a highly competitive environment and is a hotly debated subject because it is considered not to be within the spirit of the game, though it is a legal form of dismissal.

In fact, ESPNcricinfo has learned that before the Asia Cup qualifying round, the Asian Cricket Council met with the four Associate teams and instructed them not to mankad.

I just can't understand why there is furore about Mankading. International cricket is no longer a "tea party" affair. The agreement not to Mankad is only giving the batsman a free reign to seek to gain an unfair advantage. The ICC rules state that Mankading is a legal action, so I believe the match referees  should just do the refereeing and not be involved in brokering any agreement. I would like to know if a player should Mankad another what would be the response of the umpire or the match referee.

Maybe they should change the rule to call the batsman run out without the bowler doing anything.  Meaning just like the umpire watches the bowler to call a no ball if his front foot is over the line, they should call the batsman out if he leaves the crease before the ball leaves the bowler's hand!  :P

Who the heck is this ICC guy to tell not to mankad, when it is clearly legal in the rules. The spirit of cricket is a piece of crap that people invented when cricket was not yet professional and people played just for fun. Today cricket is a serious professional sport and teams need all the advantage they can get legally.
