Parkites must apply to use Narine for T20 Festival

QUEEN’S PARK will most likely utilise off-spinner Sunil Narine for the 2016 Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TT CB) NGC (National Gas Company)-sponsored Group T20 Festival, which will run from March 31 to April 15.
But, according to Law 1.2.4 of the TT CB T20 Match Regulations, “any player who have (sic) been suspended by the ICC (International Cricket Council) or WICB (West Indies Cricket Board) from participating in competitions sanctioned by both organisations would apply to the TT CB national teams, National League and Zonal competitions.†Narine has been banned from bowling in all ICC-sanctioned events, due to an illegal bowling action.Queen’s Park coach David Furlonge is however hopeful that Narine will be allowed to play in the T20 Festival.
“We plan to use him,†said Furlonge during a telephone interview yesterday. “(The TT CB) normally have a meeting with the clubs and we’ll address our concerns then.†Furlonge continued, “the 50- over Match Regulations say the same thing, except the words ‘should apply’. And we did apply
