Barnwell double sinks UG; Chanderpaul ton, Rasheed 5 give ECC first innings

Christopher Barnwell struck a robust double century to lead Demerara Cricket Club to an
innings and 208-run victory over University of Guyana, while Everest Cricket Club gained first innings points from Guyana Defence Force when the latest round of matches in the Georgetown Cricket Association, Trophy Stall, Star Party Rentals, GISE first division two-day tournament concluded on Sunday.
At DCC, UG batted first and were sent packing for 135 with Leon Williams scoring 29 and Dwayne Dodson 21; Ashmead Nedd claimed 4-44 and Totaram Bishun 4-45.
Barnwell then hammered 254 to guide the host to a mammoth 551 all out in reply. Paul Wintz got 88 and Kevon Boodie 50. Damien Vantull picked up three wickets. Trailing by 416, UG were bowled out for 208. Darnel Douglas hit 53 and Omesh Danram an aggressive 38; Bishun bagged 6-40 to finish the game with 10-85.
At Everest, the host and GDF played to a draw. GDF batted first and were skittled for 109. Leon Williams got 29 as Javed Rasheed grabbed 5-18, Troy Gonsalves and Shabeer Khan had two each. Shivnarine Chanderpaul then stroked a commanding 164 to guide Everest to 255 all out in reply. Akshaya Persaud made 26 and Ronaldo Renee 25. Randy Lindore captured 3-74, Niall Smith 2-50 and Romario Shepherd 2-56. Trailing by 146, GDF were 56-4 when stumps were drawn on the second and final day. Kevin Ramdeen was not out on 22; Gonsalves had 3-18.
