Former Australia captain Michael Clarke scored what he described as a "rusty" 48 in his comeback match in Sydney club cricket on Saturday.

Clarke, who left the top level of the game in August after the Ashes series defeat in England, was dropped twice early batting at No 3 for his old team Western Suburbs against Randwick-Petersham.

He was finally dismissed lbw trying to work a ball through fine leg to Sam Doggett just two runs short of a half-century.

Clarke was dropped at second slip before he had scored and was later put down again at second slip while on 30 in his 135-minute innings, which included seven fours.

Why is Pup even back? Even though he retired at a young age it is clear his back cannot take the rigours of professional cricket anymore. He may wreck his body even more by playing stupid grade games. If he still wants to play cricket better go for T20 leagues.

I'm not sure why Pup wants to make a comeback.  Seems he's got a secure job commentating for Channel 9 and he's a very good commentator for sure ... maybe he's made some poor financial investments along the way or maybe feels he's got more to contribute to on-field cricket ... but with his back problems ??!! :-\

Why he's actually come back at all is the biggest question, as a few of you have already asked, and I'm not too sure why either.

I'm not saying he's not good enough to still compete at the top.level but his injury must be in the back of his mind, and even though he might miss the game and want to play again, is it really doing him any favours?
