Johnson piles pressure on Red Force

GEORGETOWN—Guyana Jaguars captain Leon Johnson struck an unbeaten 111 to guide his team into a strong position on the penultimate day of their match against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in the Regional First Class championship at the National Stadium here yesterday.
Having led the Red Force by by 58 on first innings, the Jaguars reached reached 244 for four at the close with Johnson leading the way with his 176-minute innings that included 11 fours and one six.
Resuming at 136 for three, the Red Force lost their last seven wickets for just 43 runs with Veerasammy Permaul (5-65) and Devendra Bishoo (3-48), slicing through their innings.
Permaul removed both overnight batsmen Yannick Cariah and Jason Mohammed after the pair had added 61 for the fourth wicket.
Cariah (68) struck six fours and one six in his knock before Permaul had him caught and 159 and two runs later, he sent back Mohammed (30).
Thereafter, it was a procession as none of the other batsmen stuck around in the face of some accurate bowling from the Jaguars spinners.
