THE YANNICK Ottley XI hold the upper-hand over the Jason Mohammed XI after the penultimate day of the three-day Trinidad and Tobago Red Force trial match at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva.

Resuming on their overnight position of 42 runs for two wickets, the Ottley XI closed the day on 287/8 with Nicholas Pooran, continuing his recovery from a serious left leg injury which he sustained last year, top-scoring with 86.

The 20-year-old received useful support from his captain Ottley, who struck 82.

In Tuesday’s opening day, the Mohammed XI were dismissed for 213 with off-spinner Bryan Charles claiming four wickets for 27 runs while leg-spinner Kissondath Magram had 4/36.

Opening batsman Evin Lewis led the way for the Mohammed XI with 87 while Red Force skipper Jason Mohammed had 41 and Akeal Hosein 29.

The team are preparing for the resumption of the Professional Cricket League 2015-2016 season, and they are scheduled to face leaders Guyana Jaguars from February 12-15 at Providence Stadium, Guyana.
