I have been banging the Stephen Cook drum for a while now. I really thought he should have been given his debut at the start of this series.

I posted this in the gamethread, but is worthy of posting it again here: Cook is the 8th batsman over the age of 30 to score a century on debut. The other 7 are Grace, Aminul Islam, Griffith, Voges, Houghton, Milton and Collins. He is also the fourth-oldest.

So, Jimmy Cook gets a golden duck on debut , and his son, Stephen, grabs a century . I've not yet had a chance to dig through the archives, but I would have to guess this is the first time a father-and-son duo have a duck and a century between them on debut.

Apparently not. Hamish and Ken Rutherford also achieved this feat - Hamish scoring the century and his father, Ken, getting the duck.

After batting so well it was a bit of unglamorous way to get out I thought, but being an Englishman I'll take it.

Cook is a quality player and your right when you say his debut should really have come sooner than this.
