Fudadin, Permaul heroics lead easy Jaguars win

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, CMC – Opener Assad Fudadin’s attractive half-century powered Guyana Jaguars to a convincing six-wicket victory over winless Combined Campuses and Colleges Marooners in their third round Regional Super50 contest here yesterday.

Set a paltry 150 for victory at the St Paul’s Sports Complex, Jaguars eased to their second victory of the tournament off 35 overs, with the left-handed Fudadin top-scoring with 71.

Vishaul Singh saw Jaguars over the line with an unbeaten 36 while wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble, in the role of opener, made 20.

Off-spinner Vikash Mohan finished with two for 25.

Earlier, Marooners stumbled to 149 all out off 48.3 overs, with Man-of-the-Match left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul running through the innings with four for 22.

Seamer Paul Wintz supported with three for 21.

Former West Indies player, left-hander Ryan Hinds, was the only batsman to pass 20 with a top score of 47 off 94 balls without striking a single boundary.

With the innings in chaos at 62 for six in the 20th over, Hinds anchored three consecutive, handy partnerships to see Marooners past the 100-run mark.

He put on 27 for the seventh wicket with Akeem Dewar (15), 25 for the eighth wicket with Chris Powell (14) and 34 for the ninth wicket with Nino Henry (12).

In reply, Fudadin and Bramble quickly killed off the game with a 76-run opening stand.

Fudadin faced 97 balls and counted six fours and three sixes while Bramble lasted 36 balls without hitting a boundary.

When Bramble perished in the 17th over, Fudadin joined Vishaul in a 33-run, second wicket stand to keep the run chase on course.
