Gayle, first T20 player to 600 sixes

WEST Indies star batsman Chris Gayle became the first player to hit 600 sixes and 600 fours in Twenty20 cricket.The batsman achieved the feat during the Melbourne Renegades win over the Brisbane Heat in Australia’s Big Bash League on the weekend.
The Jamaican has been at the centre of attention following a decision by manufacturers Spartan to furnish the player with a gold-coloured bat.
Things, however, have not going as smoothly as planned at first. Despite hitting two sixes, Gayle failed to properly catch any of the 16 balls he faced before departing for 23.
Gayle is far ahead in terms of the most sixes with the next best being that of fellow West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who has hit 388 sixes.
Brendon McCullum is in third spot with 290 strikes over the fence. The big Jamaican’s tally of fours moved him to 653. He, however, still trails Australian star Brad Hodge, who leads the way with 664 boundaries to his credit.
The 36-year-old West Indian is the most sought-after T20 player in the world. Gayle also holds the record for the most centuries 16, and the most half-centuries 53. (Sportsmax.com)
