South Africa test squad to play England announced

So the speculation is over and South Africa has retained most of the players who were involved in the disappointing loss to India.

I was not surprised to see that Dane Vilas has lost his place, but was expecting the return of Quinton de Kock. Instead the selectors have chosen to have AB de Villiers keep wicket, allowing for an extra specialist batsmen. All the batsmen have retained their places in the squad, but Rilee Rossouw has been added. Of the three spin bowlers who played in India, the selectors have elected to keep Dane Piedt, who only played in the last test of the series.

Is this the right squad? I'm not sure. While AB is a good enough keeper, I'm worried whether his back can stand up to the rigours of keeping for a five day test. I hope I'm wrong.

it is not only silly but downright stupid and sabotage to make deVilliers keep wickets.

de Villiers is a great batsman and that is what he should be allowed to focus on...making huge scores the saffies need now that their batting is no longer great

is someone trying to reduce deVillies whom they may see as a some sort of threat... so they are wasting him away deliberately.  and would that person be Lorgat, looking to protect his Amla investment ::confused::

however who cares.  that is not my business at all.  and as a last comment...the faster this dispensation in saffie cricket destroys itself the better.
