The first day-night test was a roaring success but organisers are bracing for swathes of empty seats at next week's day-time match between Australia and the West Indies in Hobart, reports said on Friday.

After 123 000 poured through Adelaide's turnstiles for the day-night test against New Zealand, official forecasts predict fewer than 10 000 over the first four days in Hobart.

The prediction has forced organisers to slash ticket prices and is putting Hobart under pressure as a host of international cricket, according to reports.

Compounding the problem is the anticipation of a lop-sided contest against the struggling West Indians, the Sydney Morning Herald said.

Tragic but not surprising!

West Indians, sadly in its current composition at the WICB level, are grossly incompetent and therefore this spills out onto the field of play!

It will take highly exceptional cricketers to overcome the off field shenanigans.

It is poor, embarassing and even the best will of supporters will change nothing until this regime is ousted and a clear governance regime is in place.

The WICB should be outsourced....

Sad state of affairs but indepencence from politics  has to be taken away, for a 2 year period at least to allow decent decent decision making.

One get terribly fed up for repeating oneself....

Sadly West Indians need something else...to govern.

When windies put a beating on Oz in Hobart then the crowds will be back for the Boxing day test.

It's that simple - HA HA HA HA HA HA

I think de WICB board of directors should attend Hobart to give encouragement to de "youngsters".

I just realize that I have quite naturally given up on west indies cricket.  I have not been following the cricket since Jason and it never occurred to me that I was not.  I don't even know the players on this side.

I do know as I have said from the start that Jason Holder is just an ordinary player who will never make a safe place for himself on the side.  he is not that much better than Sammy before him.

west indies cricket is now a blighted cricket, the poxy wicb with its bad breath elongated all over our game. .  west indies will never recover from the bureaucratization of our game.  the wicb has almost killed the game completely.  it wont be much longer now.

as a parasite killing its host it is interesting observing the situation and the question:  where will the wicb parasite now morph into when the cricket is dead for sustenance ::confused::  is there another host for those black elites up in there to go suck off ::confused::..ultimately killing that host too ::confused:: where will Skameron end up...as Prime Minister of Jamaica ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::

Pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!!!  oh Mi God! Oh guuuuuuuuuude!  what will happen to the Jamaica people ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::

anyhow is they ordinary Yardie folk who insisted that Skameron retain Yardie rep for president after the Yardie cricket authorities refused to support him.  they are responsible for Skameron still in the west  indies with a high profile and eligible for promotion.

it would be right then that he become leader of a political party and be promoted right up to PM.

that skunt can be worse than Portia Simpson and that is exactly what the Yardie folk will get from PM Skam..a social reality so bad they would not understand.  but it would be fully deserving.

I will bet any money that there is some forrin power backing the rise of Dave Whycliff Skameron  in west indian life.  Skam is the perfect kind of ideological lunatic forrin power loves

It will not only be a dire crowd in Hobart ... but dreadfully embarrassing for the widely acclaimed historic Boxing Day Test Match which normally draws thousands. This test match is normally well attended and it may prove overwhelming for this side.......

However, put dem bets on ... might make some money on a surprise if not impossible Windies win  ;)

Let's go OZ !

While the boxing day test IS usually well attended, I don't think past attendances can be relied upon and cricket at the moment seems to be stuck in a state of limbo at the moment.

People still love cricket like they always have, it's just that people for whatever reason aren't willing to pay the money and attend the games, and there's not an easy solution to fix that.

For referenxe, the lowest opening day crowd at a Boxing Day Test this century is 59,206 against Pakistan in 2009. The lowest attended series over this period also came against Pakistan in 2004, when 129,079 fans were in attendance.

The lowest all time Boxing Day attendance is 15,604 set in 1993 against South Africa, but that day was almost entirely washed out due to rain with play failing to start until 5pm.

The Boxing day test could draw a good crowd particularly if Australia bat first.

The sight of Warner getting to 400 in a day might be irresistible.
