The ICC will pay seven full-member boards $10 million over the next eight years :

full-member boards will each receive $1.25 million annually

beginning January 2016

First Test Cricket Fund payment of $600,000 in early January,

before disbursing another $650,000 to the 'small seven' member boards in July.

Payments are expected to follow this biannual pattern until 2023. 

                 

Maybe it's just me that thinks this, but if the aim is to encourage other nations to play cricket, surely they would have better off investing that money in some sort of future development scheme than handing it out to these members without actually telling them HOW they want cricket encouraged in the first place?

I think more people need to watch cricket.  Its an awesome sport. Its kinda like baseball...

Until the development does get made a priority, I think cricket will continue to stagnate and with this sort of investment, its got to go to the right places.

More people have to be interested in playing it, and at my school there was maybe 2 boys that played cricket outside of school and the rest was football. How are they going to turn them sort of figures around?
