3rd Test: India v South Africa at Nagpur

South Africa bowled out India for 215, but ended the day at 11/2, including the loss of night-watchman Imran Tahir.

It's frightening that 215 is the highest innings total in the series thus far. Conditions are sure stacked in favour of the spinners.

Well that unraveled pretty quickly for South Africa - once again undone by Ashwin and Jadeja. By my research, this is South Africa's lowest Test score since they were bundled out for 72 by England back in 1957.

Edit: According to ESPN, the 79-runs is the lowest total India have ever dismissed a team for in Tests.

Former and current players have taken to Twitter to voice their concerns with the condition of this wicket.

Glenn Maxwell: "This wicket is diabolical!! 9 legitimate wicket chances in the first hour with 3 plays and misses every over!"

Michael Vaughan: "This pitch in Nagpur is nothing short of diabolical for Test Cricket ... Telling me that was prepared to last 5 days..!!!!!!!!!!"

Matthew Hayden: "How disappointing it is to see the quality of Test Cricket reduced to what we are witnessing."

I've also heard it being referred to as being like a sixth day pitch. Then again, India seem to be able to better equipped to bat on it.

Maybe I should take back that last comment. Imran Tahir is taking wickets. Why did Amla hold him back for so long?

South Africa's impressive record of nine years and 15 away trips without losing a series finally came to an end in this series. Given how teams in the modern era struggle to win even one series away from home, this was an impressive feat and one that may not be matched for some time.
