Steve Waugh blames poor leadership and money for demise of West Indies

As the West Indies prepare for a three-Test tour of Australia that no one gives them any hope of winning, Steve Waugh used a youth forum in Thailand to blame a lack of leadership in the Caribbean  and the money on offer from Twenty20 tournaments for the demise of the Calypso kings.

The former powerhouse of  world cricket open their tour on December 2 with a four-day match against a Cricket Australia XI in Brisbane. However, they've been written off before a ball has been bowled by Steve Smith's men after they were thumped by Sri Lanka.

Waugh, who made his Test debut in 1985 when the West Indies ruled through fear, intimidation and breathtaking skill, was involved in some blood 'n' thunder matches against them, including a celebrated stand-off with Curtly Ambrose some feared would end in a mid-pitch brawl before the pace bowler was dragged away by his skipper Richie Richardson.

I understand that people might get a little frustrated when ex player's come out and give their opinions on matters but if the West Indies had listened to these people before now, they might not be in the position they're in.

There are two parts to cricket,management and playing the game. If the WICB cannot put their house in order the game will show signs of decline. Cameron is the leader and should be held accountable for WI, cricket decline. When a leader cannot have a transparent organization and fails to take advice and don`t listen to the board, everyone around him becomes dysfunctional, such as Prybus, Lloyd and his selectors and that affect players. We need to start blaming the Board members two from each country who voted Cameron back in power and this is the political part not needed in cricket .Guyana, Jamaica, Winward and Leeward islands . These islands board members seeing the destruction Cameron is doing and put him back in office. Trinidad and Barbados saw how Cameron was destroying WI cricket and did not vote for him.

why is the ACB letting West Indian test cricketers play Big Bash instead of representing their country?
Test cricket needs test playing nations - there are only 4 or 5 who can give Australia a run for their money and keep the crowds coming as it is.
