Michael Holding tried but failed. Clive Lloyd tried but failed. Even the great Vivian Richards tried but failed.
The secret on how to fix West Indies cricket is not that hard, and only takes five days to do.
The solution is this. Sit the West Indies team down. They only need three things – a pen, paper and the footage of the Australia versus New Zealand Test match in Perth.
All the players need to do is watch New Zealand and take notes.
When New Zealand are chasing the ball to the boundary late on Day 1 after Warner has passed 200 and saving a boundary with a full length dive. Write that down.
When Australia started the second day at 2-416 but were only able to make 70 runs in 28 overs during the first session on Day 2 due to high discipline bowling on a flat deck. Write that down.
When Australia looked sure to make 600-plus but they are forced to declare 41 short of that score due to continued discipline right through Day 2, write that down.
When it comes time to bat, instead of thinking about the fatigue of a day and a half in the field and how easy it would be to let the next guy do it, watch what Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor do. Write it down.
When New Zealand lose their eighth wicket before they pass Australia’s score but the last two wickets put on 70 to make an Australian victory highly improbable, write that down.
When Australia needs quick runs on Day 5, and the New Zealand bowling once again is excellent meaning Australia only score 73 in the session, write that down.
When New Zealand pull on their cap, and wear it with pride, representing their nation and the great players that have pulled on the same cap before them, write it down.
When you have a group of cricketers that aren’t as talented as the opponents but are willing to battle it out for five days, doing themselves and their country proud, copy them.
Problem solved.

Well I think you may have given some of these players more intellectual credit than what they deserved because I am sure that there is nothing about cricketing analysis that they can learn in 5 years much less 5 days!
