"If our batsmen struggle this way on the UAE pitches I shudder to think what will happen when we go to England next year," he added. He said the careless shots played by captain Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan can only be classified as horrifying.

It really was poor batting on one of the flattest wickets I have ever seen. Somehow, Pakistan put themselves into a position where they almost threw the game away. This was inconceivable after their first innings score. Their performance in the second innings was arguably worse than England being skittled out for 72 back here in 2012 as this wicket offered no assistance to seam or spin bowlers. Still, at the end of the day, Pakistan come away with a draw so no real damage done.

I agree with Ian Chappel. No form of the game should be played on that type of wicket. It really was one of the worst pitches I have ever seen. Test cricket is my favourite format of the game and it was hard for even me to sit through all five days. Playing Test matches on those types of pitches is a sure fire way to kill the game.
