But as Pakistan continues its long spell in international wilderness, former Australia captain Ian Chappell fears the country may struggle in producing the Akrams and the Miandads of the future if the young cricketers have no one to idolise.

On his ESPNCricinfo show 'Chappelli Calls it', the Australian great said Pakistan were facing a 'major problem'.

“It is very difficult to produce good cricketers if the young players of the country aren't getting the opportunity to go to the grounds and see international cricket being played.”

“It's okay to watch cricket on television. But I'm sure you really need to foster the game; have games that people can go to.”

“The fathers take the kids along to the ground and the kids get a hero, an idol.”
