Hampshire sign Reece Topley

It has been confirmed that Hampshire will sign left-arm seamer Reece Topley on a two-year contract from Essex at the end of this season. I like this signing a lot. Topley is just 21-years-old and has been brilliant in the shorter formats of the game, earning a call up to the England T20 team that recently beat Australia.

Topley has already taken 125 wickets in first-class cricket at an average of 25.78 since making his debut in 2011, although curiously, he was limited to just two appearances for Essex in Division Two of the County Championship this year.

It was also rumoured today that as Shane Watson has retired from Test cricket, he may join up with Hampshire in the one-day format next year. Watson previously played for Hampshire in 2004 and 2005.
