Darren Lehmann admits that England outplayed them

The Australian Cricket Team coach Darren Lehmann has admitted that the England team got better of them in the key moments and outplayed them completely, as hosts won the Ashes for the fourth time in a row at their home.

Darren Lehmann was coach of the side that outclassed the England 18 months back and won the series 5-0 by whitewashing the opposition. It looked like he would become the first Australian coach in 14 years to win the Ashes.

Australian team struggled with the bat in most of the series and were bowled out for just 60 runs in 18.3 overs in the first innings of the fourth test match which was their seventh lowest total of their history.

Lehmann said that they would like to make correct calls in the selection next time as they struggled with it as well. Lehmann was criticised in the series when it came to selection of bowlers and the wicket-keepers.

The coach also said that they will make their players take some part in the county cricket so that they can get familiar with the English pitches which was also one of the main reasons of their loss and batting collapses.

They took England lightly

Isn't it just possible that England played better and made better use of the conditions? Root and Broad were immense. It seems unfair to lay complete blame on Australia without giving England any credit. The stats back this up, Australia (32.06) had a higher collective batting average compared to England (29.19). England just happened to take a glut of wickets at crucial moments.
