Chris Rogers has given final confirmation that he will retire from international cricket after the final Investec Ashes Test.

In May, Rogers stated his intention to call it a day after the current series and now says he is "100 per cent sure" he will represent Australia for the final time at The Oval.

The 37-year-old, who is the tourists' leading run-scorer in this series, confirmed the decision to coach Darren Lehmann, captain Michael Clarke and his teammates in London on Tuesday.

Chris Rogers is the true definition of a late bloomer. He certainly made the most of his second chance in Test cricket and has been a continued thorn in England's side. His average of 48.73 is the 9th best by an Australian batsman against England (minimum 25 innings).

Since he returned to Test cricket in July 2013, only Steve Smith, David Warner, Joe Root and Younis Khan scored more runs. That is a big hole to fill at the top of the order.

Does it not seem like a pre mature retirement ? if not at least it is for me as, because his careeer just started at 35 and he should have played on at least for a couple of more years.
I'm sure, if given a chance Saurav Ganguly will definitely want to play even now for his place in the team.

I believe the recent blows to the head had him questioning whether his reactions have slowed. Obviously, he is still scoring runs for fun, but given the number of concussions he has suffered in recent months, you can't blame him for walking away.

Just to emphasise how good Rogers and Warner have been as an opening combintion, in last 2 years they have combined to put up 9 century partnerships in Tests. No other opening pair has got even 3 century stands!

He was instrumental indiviudually as well.
He scored seven consecutive half-centuries in Tests and equaled the record set by Everton Weekes, Sangakkara, Andy Flower and Chanders.

His scores read – 55, 55, 57, 69, 95, 56 and 95 . He had only played 21 Test matches and he was already counted among the greats of the game.

A true Captain of the Daddy Army :D

Well Rogers is a good batsman and too bad he made his international debut at such a late stage of his career. He has been Australia's best batsman in the current ashes series and he could have carried on for at least another year or two.

Chris Rogers has signed a contract to play for Somerset next year. Rogers has previously played county cricket for Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire and most recently Middlesex until last year. However, his connections with Middlesex ended in controversial fashion when he became embroiled in an Ashes ticket scheme where a company Rogers co-founded was offering hospitality packages for sale.

This is a very good signing for Somerset.

Shiv started this game since before birth and debut at 19 as a frail young Maroon.

Rogers was already bald headed with grandkids at age 35 when he got a baggy green.

No comparison with the Great Man...
