Great innings by the batting genius! It is only a shame he had to play most of his career with a very mediocre West Indies team. The big man deserved to have had good players to play around him.

In his first 5 seasons with the West Indies, Australia were the only team to win more Test matches; West Indies had a higher winning percentage than all other teams with the exception of Australia and South Africa.

Lara played in the same Test team as the likes of Marshall, Richards, Richardson, Haynes, Chanderpaul, Hooper, Gayle, Adams, Walsh, Ambrose, Bishop, etc. I am sure you will agree, those qualify as "good" players.
