A fantastic, well decorated career, and one of the fiercest competitors. Injuries really took a toll on him and he was unable to regain his form. Despite averaging just 33.35 over the last 2 years, his career average stands at 49.30.

You got the sense that things were weighing heavily on him in the pre-match interview with Michael Atherton. Perhaps DownUnda can speak more on this topic, but I also got the impression that he was not thrilled with some of the moves the selectors made during the series.

With one Test still to play, Clarke sits on 28 centuries. More than all other Australian players to wear the baggy green with the exception of Ponting, Steve Waugh, Hayden and Bradman. Elite numbers from one of the greats.
