Young Warriors CC helps secure sponsorship for Under-15 cricketer

Sam Sooppersaud, formerly of Canefield, East Canje, Berbice who now resides in the USA paid heed to the call of the Young Warriors Cricket Club for assistance for the clubs young and promising cricketers. The recipient is Berbice Under-15 opening batsman Alex Algoo.
A release from the Cumberland based cricket club said that Algoo represented Berbice in 2014 and this year and narrowly missed out on national selection. He is a hard hitting batsman who can wicket keep as well.
Presenting the cricket gears (one bat, pad, helmet, thigh pad, arm guard and batting glove), Sooppersaud said that over the years, he closely followed the work and progress of the cricket club and is impressed. He added that as a person from the Canje area, he is more than happy to help develop young cricketers from the area. He mentioned names like Damodar Daesrath, Gajanand Singh, Richard Ramdeen, Kwesi Maltay, Seon Hetmyer, Balram Samaroo, Sanjay Khan, Loaknauth Ramsuchit, Linden Austin, Darrell Narine and so many others were outstanding cricketers produced by the club. He made special mention of young Shimron Hetmyer and encouraged parents to help their children in their cricket and educational career.
Alex Algoo thanked the sponsor and promised him to make full use of the gears and care it. He said that he will drag as many youngsters with him to the club
