Nick Compton says he has not given up hope of an England recall.
The opening batsman, who has rejoined Middlesex for 2015, played nine Tests but has not been selected since the 2013 home series against New Zealand.
On being dropped by England, the 31-year-old told the Guardian:  "It is like being dumped by a girlfriend and you don't think they have given you the real reasons. There is no closure.
"But I am not going to give up hope. I don't want to accept it."
Compton was called up by England in 2012 after amassing 1,494 first-class runs for Somerset the previous season at an average of 99.6

The real reason, Nick, is you aren't good enough! His Test numbers: 9 matches, 17 innings, 479 runs, 31.93 Ave, 2 100s, 1 50.
For comparison, the recently dropped Sam Robson's Test numbers: 7 matches, 11 innings, 336 runs, 30.54 Ave, 1 100, 1 50.

Compton  seems to have lost a lot of girl friends ,  anyway he was selected for  England because  of his  grandpappy  connections. Grandpappy    played for England.

His 31 test average after 9 innings is better than a lot of the West Indies top order batsmen. This guy may not be good enough for England but would fit right into a West Indies team that is below average.

Compton's season in 2012 really was remarkable - 1,494 runs at an average of 99.60.

His First-Class numbers last year weren't bad either: 961 runs at an average of 43.68 with 2 centuries and 5 fifties. Unfortunately for him other young players such as Lyth, Lees, Taylor, Hales, Borthwick, Vince and Roy put up even bigger numbers.

Moeen suffered a side strain during England's last World Cup game against Bangladesh. He was left out of the initial touring party due to the injury but it is hoped that he will be fit enough to return in time for the second Test. I believe he played for Worcestershire earlier in the week but as a batsman only.

Taylor was omitted from the Test squad. I think he can consider himself very unfortunate. He put up big numbers for Nottinghamshire last year and was one of the few batsman to impress at the World Cup.

England do have a solid core of young batsman that they can build around, Taylor included. I am concerned about our bowling going forward.

ChristinaIt is time for a full evaluation and accountability to the people of this region for the disastrous batting performance of the West Indies Cricket Team. We cannot disregard what all of us witnessed and endured in the last three test matches. This is not about our players, administrators, or any individual; it is an entire system that is failing, and together, all of us must fix it now. This cannot continue into another series; we must not allow it to.(15.07.2025, 15:52)(15:52)0
