Eoin Morgan insists England are "here to win theWorld Cup " but whether that is just the hopeful rhetoric of an optimistic captain or a genuine prospect will be made clearer by how his young team handle the intimidation of playingAustralia in front of up to 100,000 partisan fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Only four of the likely team for Saturday's first game played in the Boxing Day Test last year when a record-breaking crowd of 91,112 watched the first day.

Well at least they have a chance to win unlike the West Indies. I don't fancy England during the world cup and I think they will not make the semi-finals. The captain can talk all he wants but England will not win the world cup or make the finals.

I don't think the 'showdown' in Melbourne will determine if England proceed in the tournament should they win or lose. I'm not expecting England to go all the way and the biggest surprise would be if the host nation chokes, nothing less than a semi final appearance for the Australian's would be a mitigating suicidal disaster.
