All Ketch has to do is go back to page 1 of this thread and look at that video I posted of Kalli batting for Warwickshire in 1972 and see how he played the spinners.  It's almost as if he had nothing but contempt for spinners and spin bowling.  A real master of the art. 8)

* I was looking at that innings live on the big screen and was pi$$ed at Shiv---he played forward but hid the bat behind his pad.

* It looked like Shiv was playing forward bat and pad---but the bat was behind the pad---it was a foolish approach and he deserved to get out.

* Why you think Lara was successful against Murali and Warne ?

* HE USED HIS FEET AND WAS POSITIVE---NO POKING AND BLOCKING WITH HIS PADS.

* That was how Kali played spinners in his day---he was positive, used his feet, and not his pads.

* I like Shiv but he is not in the same league as Kali when it comes to playing spin bowling.

* LARA WAS IN KALI'S CLASS AGAINST SPINNERS.

Murli was a chucker.  Warne is the only modern day great spinner who bowled clean.

Kalli may very well have had some difficulties against him.  But I believe he would also have scored lots of runs off Warne.

Kalli was brought up in the era of uncovered pitches.  Uncovered pitches turned into raging turners come days 4 and 5.  Port of Spain was well known to turn like a tornado on days 4 and 5.  Look at Kalli's record at the QPO.  It speaks for itself Bro.

Flipper, yes.  Venkat bowled those all the time.  Carom, no.  Pelters were called and banned before they made it to Test cricket in Kalli's time. ;)
