The Waughs toppled WI dominance. Steve Waugh in particular, Australia's best captain, had countless gritty innings were blunted the West Indies into submission. The 1990s are pretty much the Waughs, McGrath and Warne vs Lara, Ambrose and Walsh.

Wow, what a scorecard. Over 500 runs. I remember those days.
Ritchie Richardson was a big player against Australia in the 1980s and early 1990s (he has 7 or 9 centuries vs them I think). When the McGrath/Warne generation began, though, he found himself lost at sea.
A 25 year old Carl Hooper is there too, having yet another bad series. Hooper started making consistent good knocks when he took the captaincy (Lara shouldn't have gotten the WI captaincy) around-about 2002, making a 233, 115 and 136 vs India in the WI, thanks to some big partnerships with fellow mud-man Chanderpaul.
Incidentally, check out Viv Richards stats on that scorecard - 50 runs and 3 sixes. Richardson, also from Antigua (Richardson calls Viv his mentor), has the only other sixes in that match. In our age of T20s, sixes are a dime a dozen. Back then though, they were pretty rare, with Viv being the undisputed master.
