Tevin Robertson - Young cricketer's funeral Thursday
PROMISING cricketer Tevin Robertson is expected to get a rousing send-off from the cricket fraternity when he is laid to rest on Thursday, April 03, 2014 following a funeral ceremony at the Calvary Tabernacle at Armour Street, Princes Town starting at 1 pm.
Robertson was fatally injured early Sunday morning when the car he was driving crashed on the northbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway near the Petrotrin Compound at Pointe-a-Pierre. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle at the time.
The national Under-19 cricketer who represented T&T last year in the regional tournament was also named in the training squad for this year's senior regional competition but did not make the final cut. However the left arm pace bowler was highly regarded as a future national pick.
According to Kelvin Mohammed, president of the South East Zone of the T&T Cricket Board, Robertson started his cricket career at the Sancho/St Julien Sports Club where he was quickly identified as a rare talent.
He also played for St Benedict's College of la Romaine and for the South East Zone at the Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 levels. Robertson was also tapped by PowerGen Sports Club who play in the Premier Division and at the time of his passing was a member of Moosai's Sports Club.
Following the funeral service Robertson will be interred at the Navet Public Cemetery.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
