Brian Lara falls for Scots beauty queen Jamey Bowers

CRICKET legend Brian Lara has been bowled over by Miss Scotland Jamey Bowers.

The retired West Indies batsman, 44, and the 24-year-old model have been dating for months.

Brian gushed about his new love in an A to Z themed magazine interview. He said for J: “Jamey Bowers is my girlfriend and an amazing woman.”

Like Brian, Jamey was born in Trinidad. But she grew up in Scotland and lives in Edinburgh.

She has not posted photos with him on social media. But at the weekend, she added a snap on Instagram of the view from the balcony of the cricket star’s home in Trinidad.

Brian – described by Barack Obama as “the Michael Jordan of cricket” – is a regular visitor to Scotland as he is a close pal of former Rangers, Hibs and Falkirk star Russell Latapy.

He was in Edinburgh in December and tweeted: “At the Missoni Hotel chilling in my room visiting my
girlfriend. Not much to do, it’s freezing outside.”

The star spent Christmas with his daughters Tyla and Sydney but tweeted: “Can’t wait to see @jameybowers.”

Last month, they visited Jamaica, with Brian posting on Twitter: “Best trip with @JameyBowers.”

The model – who used to date ex-Hearts star Andy Driver – is representing Scotland this week at a carnival in Trinidad.

Lara’s new love is quoted by Edinburgh News as saying: “It's early days. I didn't want anyone to know, but Brian's been declaring his love all over the place.
“He's charming, romantic and fun. We'll see what happens.”
Bowers has certainly picked a sporting legend for a boyfriend – Lara is considered one of the best batsman to have ever played cricket.
