England have announced that Angus Fraser will join the selection panel this summer, but have yet to comment on reports that Paul Collingwood has been appointed as assistant coach to Ashley Giles for the forthcoming one-day tour of the West Indies followed by the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.
Fraser will fill the vacancy on the selection panel left by Geoff Miller's retirement as its chairman after the Ashes tour, James Whitaker having stepped up to become the national selector. As expected, Andy Flower, having been involved in the selection of the World T20 squad despite his resignation as team director, will now stand down from the panel.
The appointment will cause some mild chuntering as he will maintain his role as director of cricket at Middlesex, which offers a potential conflict of interest as he will be working on a day-to-day basis with England contenders such as Steven Finn, Sam Robson and Eoin Morgan.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
