Tier 2 for away games and Tier 1 for home games.
Although I was supporting the Kiwis, the Indians had some tough Umpiring decisions not least Rehane being given out LB when he middle the ball. DRS or not, that was poor.

* Away from their lalah curry powder wickets at home, India is just an ordinary team----in the past 25 years they have played 125 tests away from India and won only 25 while losing 49----51 draws.
* But at HOME in India----the Indians are world class performers on their curry powder wickets.
* THE NUMBERS DON'T LIE.
* In 99 tests at home in the past 25 years India has won 53 and lost only 16----that's a win/loss ration of 3.31
* The only team with a better win/loss ratio at home is Australia----3.37
BOTTOM LINE:
* India remains Tier 1.

By the way Chairman, I told you the probability of India surpassing a 375+ NZ score was close to zero.

You need to be strong in your own conditions and India is better at that than most.
I think this team could be a great team but India is far too conservative and defensive in team selection.
I would have had Khan, Bhuvi, Shami and Yadav as my spearheads. Jadeja is a good enough specialist batsman so he can replace Rehane, at the moment. Bhuvi can bat and he should he developed in that way. I know Ishant got a6for but, apart from cutting his hair, I favour the others. Zaheer may be playing his last Test series. He si fit and moves the ball as he is know to but he has dropped far too much pace. Yadav needs to play to develop him. He is fast and can be very effective given time.
India made a great chase and I though they were going to win and Wagner getting Dhoni was key. Mt Indian team would be....
1. Dahwan
2. Vijay
3. Kholi
4. Pujara
5. Rohit
6. Jadeja
7. Dhoni
8. Bhuvi
9. Khan
10. Shami
11. Yadav
If the pitch is spin friendly, and I am talking away from home, drop one of the seamers and have Ashwin in.
If you want to change batsmen then that would be between Vijay, Rehane and Rohit.
India need to bite the bullet and be more attacking.

Why should they be.? India are champions at home and stats do speak and if they have to be relegated to Tier 2,it must be on basis of their inability to even put up a challenge.They always do put up a fight away from home against any team.
Also,every other team can shine on its own home ground.ask a NZ or Eng or even an Aus to perform on Indian tracks and all they get is brutally raped by the Indians.
Does that mean Aus/Eng is a Tier 2 side.?
If so,who are the Tier 1's ..??
P.S : Never doubt India's crediblity as a Tier 1 Team.

Rev, why do foreign teams or great players seem to fail in India, though? It seems like it's the slow accumulator players from foreign teams who, when they land in India, tend to do well.

Wait, you serious Mailstah? Have you seen this retard bat in tests? He plays like a brainless slogger. He, god knows how, has 3 triple tons in domestic, which tells lot about their domestic cricket, less about him. See what he did in the second innings. Or hell, see what he did in that 2nd test vs SA. Ugly, ugly slogs.
Rahane should be part of their batting, he's a class player. And no matter how "aggressive" you go, they don't have the bowling, period. Shami, Yadav (in for Ishant), Zaheer and Jaddu as spinner is their best bet. If they're kicking out Rahane, replace him with Ashwin, maybe. I think Zaheer would be out soon, Bhuvi can replace him then.

I Second your thoughts,but i don't agree on Jadeja being a crappy player.He slogs,but if his play is a bit more refined he can evolve as a class player.That lack of experience is hurting him.He has never had a chance to show his prowess and most of the times he comes in to bat only at the fag end of the innings and if you expect him to show steely resolve and save a test,he just can't do that.
Rahane is an asset to the Team any day.He is Probably a player of VVS's sort,but isn't recognized often.He needs more grooming to handle the incoming delivery.!!
