Kevin Pietersen is set to remain a prominent figure in English cricket next summer as Surrey seek a fresh deal to sign him for the domestic Twenty20 competition.
Pietersen’s international career was effectively ended yesterday when he was not selected by England for the forthcoming tour of West Indies and the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh, but there is a serious prospect that his presence will loom large over the home internationals against Sri Lanka and India next summer.
Pietersen made his first comment on the matter today when he posted a message on social media, accompanying a photo of him walking off the Sydney Cricket Ground last month: “So sad that this will now be the last time I leave a field in an England shirt…Incredibly overwhelmed by the support overnight! Thank you so much. I love England and I honestly hope they have every success in the future.â€
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
